‘Limited’ processor? Yes! But the iPad mini 6 is impressive!

Most likely due to the current production crisis, Apple was forced to use different versions of the SoC A15 Bionic, in their different product ranges. That’s exactly why while the most powerful iPhone 13 Pro have the processor completely unlocked, the ‘non-Pro’ models have the GPU with only 4 processing cores (instead of 5).

As you can imagine, this also happens in terms of tablets, namely with the iPad mini 6, which despite having the GPU completely unlocked, hits the market with a slightly lower CPU frequency compared to the Pro models of the new range of smartphones iPhone 13. Still, the iPad mini 6 is without a doubt the tablet to have if you want a powerful yet compact machine.

‘Limited’ processor? Yes! But iPad mini 6 is the fastest compact tablet

So when the iPad mini 6 was originally announced, we quickly had a bit of a let down… The tablet’s SoC A15 Bionic has lower frequencies compared to what we can find in the iPhone 13 range of smartphones. (Which is exactly why last year’s SoC, the A14 Bionic, was ahead of the new processor in some benchmark tests).

However, unlike what happens in the range of smartphones, the SoC A15 Bionic on the iPad mini 6 has the full configuration of the chip. In other words, here we have one of the most powerful mobile GPUs on the market. Which in turn makes this little tablet one of the most interesting alternatives, on the shelves, if you want a powerful, fluid, and compact tablet.

However, there is another defect that few are commenting on… RAM memory! The iPad mini 6 has only 4GB of RAM. Which is not as serious as that, at least immediately, since the iPad OS is extremely efficient… But of course, the iPad Pro M1 already reaches 16GB! A very substantial difference, and one that guarantees another kind of “future proof”.
