Sharing content through the application of YouTube for Android will improve significantly with the next big addition to be made by Google. The user can easily share the different chapters of a video if they are demarcated.
From the computer – in version desktop – It has long been possible to share a video at the desired minute and second through the time stamps. It was the simplest and, above all, necessary way to share a video with friends and family, for example.
There's a new way to share YouTube videos on the Android app
Today (30), in order to standardize the user experience across the platform mobile, no Android e desktop, on computers, YouTube is bringing this new asset to the Android app. Its distribution occurs in a gradual and phased way.
For users, it will be possible to share a specific excerpt of a given video. For this, however, it is necessary that the content creator has indicated the division of the video into chapters, being one of the most popular resources today.
The news was first detected by the publication Android Police which also points out the necessary steps for this judicious sharing. Unfortunately, it's not enough just to tap the “Share” button to enjoy this new feature right away.
Once available to all users it will be a new accessibility feature that can have a positive impact on shares.
It's the latest feature to come to the Android app
In practice, in videos that have declared sections or chapters, the name of that section is displayed in the video progress bar. Tapping on the name of that section/chapter will expand the chapters, showing the details of each.
It is from here that the user can use the share button to send a specific excerpt or chapter of a video. You can do it through the sharing options of the Android system, without pointing restrictions.
Of course, for content creators who have already implemented chapters in their content this can also be an asset. It will be relatively easier to share content through the Android app and show a specific part.
On the other hand, if the content creator has not defined the sections or chapters of a video, this option will not apply. It is, therefore, another feature available on Google's video platform that can benefit both the creator and the viewer.
Finally, it is important to note that this function is starting to appear in the version v.16.20.35 (and newer) of the Android application. If you are Android users, you can check for updates to this app through the Google Play Store.
Please note, however, that its availability may vary by region, as this is a gradual upgrade.
