Lately I’ve gotten used to just going shopping with my phone, especially in supermarkets where I know for sure that I can pay contactless. I suspect that many make payments with their phone or certain smartwatches, but in the not too distant future we could make such payments with a common ring.
Japanese start-up Evering has launched an NFC ring that allows users to pay by simply approaching any POS. The company uses Thales technology, a global leader in digital innovation systems – connectivity, Big Data, artificial intelligence, cyber security and quantum technology.
The ring is made of ceramic, is water resistant, has no batteries, does not require charging, includes a secure chip, and the team behind it offers integration and card personalization services.
This ring will be tested in collaboration with various banks and is offered as a new cash alternative.
